The objectives of Inner City Games are to introduce and to provide experiences to disadvantaged youth in the city of San Antonio with a variety of sporting activities and to develop positive, lifetime habits by regular participation in sports and physical activities. The development of leadership and life skills, enhancement of self-confidence and self-esteem, a sense of personal control, and goal setting for completion of high school will be outcomes. In addition, this project will serve as a deterrent of negative or delinquent behaviors during the students’ idle and unsupervised time and a motivation and awareness of the importance of sports and physical activity for health and wellness.
